Student Xun Lin Posing For Wentz Research Award

ECE undergraduate student, Xun Lin, wins the 2016-2017 Wentz Research Scholar Award. The Wentz Research Award rewards undergraduates to conduct academic research independently with a faculty mentor. Xun Lin earned this award for his research on “An Indoor public Place Guide Robot Based on ROS”. His advisor is Dr. Guoliang Fan who is a professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering department.  His project aims to develop an autonomous robot with a camera on it to navigate in large, unknown and dynamic spaces such as airports or hospitals and guide people to their destinations. The robot will analyze camera data by some intelligent algorithms to build a surrounding map and to plan an optimal path avoiding obstacles.
